Amy Gives Back to Catholic Charities Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Program
At Cobalt, we love recognizing the many ways our employees give back to the communities
we serve. Our CU Giving Back feature this month demonstrates the helpful and caring heart
of our employee, Amy, and her volunteer efforts with the Catholic Charities Domestic Violence
& Sexual Assault Program.
In 2011, Amy began volunteering for this program which provides a temporary shelter for
women and children fleeing abusive relationships. Although facing uncertain futures, these
strong women are given a chance to start over. One of the ways they provide help is by
offering financial classes. Amy initially got involved by facilitating one of these classes. She
talked about products and services Cobalt has and then helped answer general questions on
a range of financial topics including banking, loans, debt, credit scores, and much more.
Although Covid has prevented Amy from teaching the classes in person, she looks forward
to when she can get back to interacting with the women. She is always eager to help counsel
them on financial matters and take the time to explain the answers to their questions.
Aside from the classes, Amy’s compassion for these women gives them comfort during a
challenging time in their lives. Her ability to listen and empathize with each of them gives
them much needed support especially as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
