CU Giving Back

Ryann Gives Back To The Open Door Mission

At Cobalt, we love recognizing the many ways our employees give back to the communities we serve. Our CU Giving Back feature this month shows the care and compassion of one of our branch managers, Ryann, and her volunteer efforts at the Open Door Mission (ODM).

The ODM plays a significant role in our community and helps people when they need it most. It’s a shelter with 917 beds for people that are homeless, serves over 4,747 meals, and provides preventive resources for more than 1,000 people that are living in poverty to empower them to be able to stay in their own homes. There also is a recovery program that’s offered to people struggling with addiction.

Ryann began her volunteer work at the ODM a few years ago by helping pack boxes of food for families in need during the holidays. She continues her good work by regularly serving and preparing to-go meals for the clients there. Ryann has a lot of empathy for what they’re going through and can’t imagine not having a place to call home. She loves interacting and hearing their stories each time she’s there. She’s especially touched by what the clients do; after all the meals are served, they stand up and clap for the volunteers to thank them for giving their time in preparing and serving the food.

Ryann is proud to volunteer for such a caring organization that is dedicated to helping others. What she enjoys the most is knowing that she is helping where she can. Ryann’s belief is you don’t need money in order to give back – volunteering your time is free!
